The kick-off meeting of the project “Biodiversity and Water Protection Lake Palić and Lake Ludaš” was held in the Blue Hall of the City Hall. The meeting was attended by the competent representativesof KfW Bank, representatives and associates of the consulting company “Posch and Partners” and representatives of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, the authorities of the City Subotica, Public Company for Road Management, Urban Planning and Housing, Provincial Institute for Nature Protection, PUC “Vodovod i kanalizacija” Subotica, PE “Palić-Ludaš” and company “Park Palić” ltd.
It was a highly efficient and constructive meeting during which the project team, as well as the scope and schedule of works for the project implementation, were presented.
It was announced at the meeting that the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructureconcluded a contract in cooperation with KfW Bankwith the professional consultant in the precedingweek. The consultant will supervise and give instructions after the evaluation period (inception report of the consultant to be submitted after two months) and initiate the tenderprocedure for the sewage network construction works in the settlement of Palić, for the pump station and the connecting pressure sewage line.
Additionally, preparatory activities for the construction ofbuffer zones around Lake Palić and Lake Ludaš will begin, as well as the activities related to biomanipulation.
The project “Biodiversity and Water Protection Lake Palić and Lake Ludaš”, for which a grant from the Government of the Republic of Germany is provided, is aiming to improve the water quality of Lake Palić and Lake Ludaš, as a precondition for creating better conditions for biodiversity conservation and creating potential for tourism development of this areas.
The City of Subotica fulfilled all the required preconditions for the start of the project implementation and a financing agreement was concluded between the German KfW Bank, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, the City of Subotica, PE “Palić-Ludaš” and PUC “Vodovod i kanalizacija”on 17.11.2017.The financing agreement was co-signed for a donation amount of EUR 6.5 million.
