The construction of over 15 kilometres of the gravitational sewage network in the residential and tourist part of the Palić settlement began at the end of August 2019. It was completed within the set deadline at the end of September 2020.
Thus, the existing sewerage network was extended by almost 50%, while the number of connected households after connecting to the newly built network increased by about 700 or 57% more than the previous number of households.
It should be noted the Amendments to the Decision on Public Sewerage in October 2019 of the City obliged the owners of all facilities in Palić, where there is public sewerage network, to connect to it within six months, regardless of the way they are supplied with water. Since that deadline expires at the end of September this year (use permits for the newly built network were obtained in March 2021), we hope the remaining 108 facility owners will install connections so that they would not be sanctioned by the competent inspection services.
Based on the agreed, installed connections and submitted requests as per the created possibilities, we can conclude that even without applying the above-mentioned Decision (forced installation of connections), there is a high level of interest of the facilities` owners for the installation of connections. There has been almost 85% of them at the end of July this year.
On top of these statistics, it is important to say that this has raised the standard of urban living conditions but also reduced the impact of underground runoff of polluted wastewater into Lake Palić and Ludaš by significantly reducing the number of septic tanks used (at least two per household).
Five kilometres of pressure pipeline, which transports the collected wastewater from this settlement to the Subotica city sewage system and wastewater treatment plant, were built along with this network. After the wastewater treatment, it is returned to Lake Palić and Ludaš as treated, which closes the natural water cycle.
