A lecture on the Ecolacus project was held at the 19th symposium “Landscape Architecture and Horticulture – Condition and Perspectives” of the Association for Landscape Horticulture of Serbia (UPHS) organized by the Faculty of Forestry, the University of Belgrade on February 24th, 2022. The results of the “Biodiversity and Water Protection Lake Palic and Lake Ludas” project, that is, its` A3.1 part for the establishment of buffer zones at Lake Palic and Lake Ludas, were presented at this symposium. Achieved results of the project related to the buffer zone and the selection of species when establishing the green belt under the title “Indigenous species and ecological restoration of the coastal belt habitats of Lake Palic and Lake Ludas” were emphasized.
The Faculty of Forestry of the University of Belgrade, in cooperation with the Association for Landscape Horticulture of Serbia (UPHS), has successfully organized a gathering and exchange of knowledge at the 19th two-day international Symposium of Landscape Horticulture 2022 (“Landscape Architecture and Horticulture – Condition and Perspectives”) this year from February 24th to February 25th, 2022. Due to the ongoing extraordinary health situation, experts from the Information Technology Centre of the Faculty of Forestry helped the organization of the symposium, so this traditional event hosted about 70 experts of various fields of expertise through the available platforms used during the Symposium.
The Symposium Programme covers current topics in the field of ecology, nursery production and breeding of ornamental plants, integrated ornamental plant protection during production and on the green infrastructure elements, as well as in the field of tree care (arboriculture).
Eminent experts from the Faculty of Forestry, Belgrade, Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade and the Faculty of Agriculture, Novi Sad, presented the achieved results at the Symposium. The results were obtained through various researches. Reputable colleagues from Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina joined our domestic arborists and experts in integrated plant protection with their experiences from their own countries.
A special lecture segment was related to indigenous plant species (perennials, woody species, fruit trees, and honey species). It was an attempt to emphasize the importance of their targeted production for various landscaping needs in city centres, habitats` restoration, forest protection belts, as well as inspiration for conceptual biodesign solutions.
After the presentation at the Symposium, the link to the professional paper of Jelena Beloica, the associate professor at the Faculty of Forestry, of which Tanja Jotanovic, an expert from PE Palic-Ludas, was the co-author, will soon be published on the website of the Association for Landscape Horticulture of Serbia and the website of the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade.
